The game takes place in the world of Polygon, some time after the player´s mission in the first game. The Super´s control has disappeared, and new sectors and new opportunities have become available to the mechanoids. After the Reformation—a process that the Reckoners believe was orchestrated by the Observer himself—the mechanoids changed. Many old clans disappeared, their primitive goals vanished into oblivion.
The new clans, led by fifth-generation mechanoids, are powerful mechanoid formations with a clear strategy and ambitious goals. Mutually conflicting interests led to wars waged not for rankings or the illusion of superiority, but for the total annihilation of the enemy. The ability to control resources allowed strong clans to destroy or expel weaker ones, using not only military but also economic means.
