Windows 10 Enterprise 2019 LTSC

The abbreviation LTSC in the name of this edition of Windows 10 stands for Long-Term Servicing Channel. To understand what this means, you need to understand the concept of Windows servicing channels, which Microsoft uses in the life cycle of its OS in the Windows-as-a-Service model.

The Windows LTSC version is a special version of Windows with long-term support. In Windows LTSC versions (previously called LTSB - Branch), Microsoft puts the stability of the system in the foreground.

The life cycle of Windows 10 LTSC is 10 years (5 years of basic and 5 years of extended support). This means that Windows 10 1809 will be supported by Microsoft until 2028 (extended support for Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC for 5 years is only provided that the company participates in the Software Assurance program

At the same time, for this version of Windows, only security updates and patches to fix specific errors are released during the support period. No changes are made to the functionality of Windows. Microsoft updates the build in the LTSB/LTSC version of Windows 10 every two to three years (and the user decides whether to update to the next build, i.e. automatic updates are not performed). At the moment, the current version of LTSC is based on Windows 10 1809 (previously, the Windows 10 LTSB version based on build 1607 was used).
