Divided into five books tracing the author’s memoirs, Unworded is a unique, emotionally exciting and plot-oriented indie-richer, which turns to the internal work of the human complex mind with its poetic and fabulous puzzles full of letters.
Artistic statement
Unworded was born from a deep love for typography. The letters not only convey the meaning, but can also bring a strong sensation of space. We asked ourselves, can we build a whole world from simple letters? What would it look like? What feelings would we experience if we plunged into such a universe?! With this there was a desire to plunge into the head of the writer and his thoughts, to see how memories are formed in order to surfacing in consciousness. We finally chose a very simple, but fascinating gameplay, collecting letters for creating objects, each of which causes an important memory of the author. One of the key aspects for us was the proximity that the player will experience with the writer, actively participating in his introspection.
We really wanted to tell a story about feelings and thoughts through Unworded. The game affects the topic of grief, this is what we all have to go through, but what is not easy to discuss. The player will have to survive each phase of grief with the author: shock and denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. An unexpected narrative about a children writer who had just got to the hospital after a serious accident. While his wife at his bed reads the tales of his own creations, you plunge into his mind, sharing his last thoughts when he recalls his life and past works, standing next to him on the verge of death!
Team Unworded
Bento has been developing mobile games since 2010. The team from Lyon consists of two enthusiastic people who were united by a common project: the creation of original and creative games. Benoit inhales life into games, creating art, sounds and music, while Severin starts the engine using his programming. With Unworded, the Bento team carries out its long-awaited dream of creating a narrative game, conveying a truly significant story!
