NJ TRANSIT®´s bustling and historic North Jersey Coast Line connects the New York Metropolitan area with the northern part of the famous Jersey Shore in an exciting way. Serving two major rail terminals, Pence Station in Manhattan and the Hoboken Classic Terminal across the Hudson River, the New Jersey North Coast Route extends over 70 miles to Bay Head, New Jersey. Trains on the NJ TRANSIT North Jersey Coast Line run along Amtrak´s electrified Northeast Corridor to Rahway, then follow what was once the famous New York and Long Branch route along the Atlantic Coast to the iconic New Jersey rail towns of South Amboy, Long Branch and Bay."Head." NJ Transit is one of North America´s largest and busiest commuter railroads, serving approximately 300,000 passengers and rail workers on weekdays. Included in the NJCL route is a modern and unique Bombardier ALP-45DP "dual power" locomotive that can operate both from an overhead AC line and as a diesel-electric locomotive. It is capable of reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour. The route also includes Comet IV commuter railcars and a fully equipped, steerable Comet V railcar for push and pull operations. NJ TRANSIT´s state-of-the-art multi-level railcars and guided railcar are also included - perfect for recreating authentic modern NJ TRANSIT operations on the North Shore of New Jersey.
