Geysers can be thought of as large underground reservoirs filled with groundwater and heated by underground heat (picture). The exit from them to the surface of the earth is through a narrow channel, which during the “quiet” period is filled with water. Considering that the “active” period begins when the water in the underground reservoir boils, and that during a geyser eruption the channel is filled only with steam, which is thrown out, estimate what part of the water the geyser reservoir loses during one eruption
