A thread is wound on a light drum of radius r with a horizontal axis, at the end of which a load of mass m1 is suspended. Four spokes of length lо with heavy balls of mass m at the ends are mounted radially on the drum (Fig. 35). Initially the load hangs at a height ho above the floor. The load is left to itself, and the system comes into accelerated motion. When the load reaches the floor, the thread continues to unwind freely from the drum, after which the drum begins to wind the thread onto itself again. What is the maximum height from the floor that the load will rise to? The mass of the drum, thread and knitting needles, as well as friction in the axis of the block, can be neglected and the impact of the load on the floor can be considered inelastic.
