The Knights of the Mediterranean brings a host of new content to Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition, including the addition of the Italian and Malta civilizations, an all-new casual Tycoon friendly game mode, and the first-ever set of historical maps that provide endless replayability with a historical twist.

2 New civilizations

• Malta:
Defend the Mediterranean Sea against incursions with unique fortifications, don gleaming armor to repel attacks, and fire at your enemies from afar with stationary guns. Flamethrowers and two-handed swords win battles, but your command´s superior logistics win wars. Luckily, you can get both! Fighting at sea with the galleys of the Order, gunpowder can get wet, but your crossbowmen will not mind. You can always resupply the gunpowder store or blow it up when the enemy army passes by!
• Italy:
Unite wealthy merchant republics, duchies, and papal states as new settlers flock to your thriving empire with every technological breakthrough, and use architects to construct buildings for free! Invest in Lombard to optimize your economy and make a quick profit, or build a majestic basilica and send papal soldiers to reinforce and replenish your army. Use your protected pavisiers to ambush your opponents with the Bersaglieri, or let Elmetti lower his spears and end the day with a deafening attack!

Brand new tycoon game mode
Tycoon is a brand new casual game mode that focuses on economic dominance rather than military domination. Free from the need to play face-to-face, this new mode allows players to explore and refine economic strategies that they can then use in other Age of Empires III: Definitive Editon game modes.

The first ever historical maps
Historical cards are a new kind of random cards. Randomly generated for endless replay value, these 8 new maps dive into the history of Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition with unique objectives for each map based on some of the most memorable conflicts on the European continent.
