16. When determining adipic acid in the butadiene hydrocarboxylation product by paper chromatography, the spots obtained, developed with methyl red, were cut out, dried and weighed. For standard mixtures with different contents of adipic acid, the following data were obtained:
Weight of acid, μg 5 10 15 20
Mass of paper with a spot, mg 61 106 146 186
A portion of the analyzed sample m mg was dissolved in V ml of water, and 0.05 ml portions of the resulting solution were chromatographed. The mass of the obtained spots was m2 mg.
Determine the mass fraction (%) of adipic acid in the analyzed product.
m=150 V=20 m2= 107
Answer: 2.93%.
