8. For the determination of dioxydiphenylmethane (DDM) in vegetables, the method of thin-layer chromatographic separation and quantitative determination by spot area S was used. The following data were obtained for standard samples:
C(DDM), µg/0.02 cm3 1.25 4.0 8.0 12.0 18.0
S,mm2 9.0 17.0 28.0 39.3 56.0
150 g of carrots were treated with 100 cm3 of alcohol, which was then evaporated to 10 cm3. Chromatography of 0.02 cm3 of this solution gave a spot with an area of 35 mm2. Calculate the content of dioxydiphenylmethane in a sample of carrots.
