The Vietnam War is one of the most controversial and protracted conflicts in the history of the 20th century. Beginning as a civil war in South Vietnam, it grew into a large-scale confrontation throughout the country with the participation of the armed forces of the United States, the USSR and a number of other states. The tactical game of the world famous series "Behind Enemy Lines" covers the terrible events of that war from the point of view of Soviet and American soldiers. The game features two story campaigns, American and North Vietnamese.

In the North Vietnamese, the player will have to control a group of four characters: two Russian saboteur instructors - a World War II sapper and a young sniper, sent to the territory of South Vietnam to train Viet Cong soldiers, and two well-trained fighters of the North Vietnamese army - a driver and an interpreter. As a result of the attack of the Americans and the rangers of the army of the Republic of Vietnam, a small detachment found itself in enemy territory, and now it must by all means get through to its own.

In the American campaign, the player will control a sabotage and reconnaissance group of five professional American military: commander, machine gunner, sniper, grenade launcher and demolition. The detachment will need to carry out a number of diverse special assignments: from sabotage and participation in relatively large battles to rescue by small forces of American prisoners of war from the camp near Hanoi.
