Film studio entered into an agreement with Matveyev, Rudin and Zverev an agreement to write a literary script for a feature film. Under the contract, the authors undertook to submit the script for a fee in five months. The authors were paid an advance on account of the remuneration stipulated by the contract. Three months later, the studio signed a new contract for the same scenario, but with only two authors, Matveyev and Zverev. Since according to the first agreement between the co-authors of the future scenario, each of them had to develop his own version, Rudin continued to work. After the five-month period expired, he gave the studio his own version. However, a studio representative said that Matveyev and Zverev had previously provided a single version of the script, and the studio approved it. Considering his rights violated, Rudin appealed to the court with a request to the studio to pay him all of the amount of remuneration due to the first contract (minus an advance).
