Task 1.
It is necessary to arrange the participants in criminal proceedings listed below, based on their classification provided for by the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, by compiling the following table:
Task 2.
On May 25, Shlepov and Tarasevich, who had previously been convicted several times, were detained on suspicion of committing a number of thefts of other people´s property. On May 27, a preventive measure was chosen against them in the form of detention. At the end of the preliminary investigation on June 30, the accused and their defense attorneys began to familiarize themselves with the case materials. However, due to illness, Taraseevich’s defense attorney did not have time to familiarize himself with the case materials before the expiration of the two-month period of detention. In this regard, the investigator, with the consent of the head of the investigative body, appealed to the judge on July 22 to extend the period of detention of Shlepov and Tarasevich until the defense lawyer had familiarized himself with the case materials. Having considered the investigator’s petition, the court refused to extend the period of detention, citing the fact that it was necessary to start familiarizing with the case materials earlier.
Evaluate the actions of the investigator and the judge.
